Transport in domestic waterborne traffic increased in January

The goods volume in domestic waterborne traffic totalled 0,5 million tonnes in January 2022. Transport in domestic waterborne traffic increased by 50 per cent compared to January 2021. In January 2022 domestic water transport took place only in coastal waterways.

Oil products were transported most, in total 308,394 tonnes, which was 67 per cent of all transport. The second most transported was crude minerals and cement, 43,321 tonnes.

Vessel traffic and goods volume in the Saimaa Canal

A total of 6,370 tons of transport were registered through the canal in domestic traffic.
